Have the blanks cut out on a bandsaw.  Ray had these all completed last weekend. It was all  off the shelf construction lumber to keep the cost lower and build character.  We calculate  no more than an hour to cut out all ten blanks.
I used a jointer to taper the blades.  Nasty job, but works pretty well.  Ray argues that this tapering could be faster on the band saw.  Very possible.

I took over the horizontal belt sander and did the final shaping of the blade.

while Ray operated the pneumatic random orbital sander for finishing, with Spaulding (and dust on the lens) in attendance

Finally, we cleaned up the tools, put some epoxy/ wood flour filler where the jointer disagreed with the knots.
