the pond

I hear the bullfrogs all throught the evenening from this pond.  I thought that I could perhaps photograph one, but they dissappeared by jumping into the water in linear succession as I walked around the perimeter of the lake.  I saw this patch of grass growing out of a knot of a felled tree a few feet out from shore.  An interesting enviromental adaptation.

Once, while walking around the pond, I saw a rather large snapping turtle.  At least a foot and a half across.  Only a sillouette except for the parts that were closest to the surface.  I'm sure it triggers similar escape reactions from the frogs, but due to turtle stealth technology, it could probably get close enough for a great photograph.  The shutter release on the camera is not suitable for turtle claws.
