I did not really want to write about this image, instead I have a quite nice portrait of my friend Derek who stopped ove for some great converstation today.  He wanted the photo to send to an old schoolmate in the UK, but his aversion to even seeing the photo undermined any of my thoughts of publishing it.

He was responsible for my current furniture design and making due to his instruction in metal working method, and an arrangement we had a few years ago which I had inherited his tools when he went off for a stint to Europe.  I was partially responsible for his current work, computer graphics, with my enthusiasm for the medium a few years back when he was in a particularly vulnerable position.  This has resulted in his full scale disease of digital mania, our weekly phone conversations revealing a new upgrade of hard or software.  I am afraid this camera added another complication

I wrestle with the creation of  computer output, wether it has the substance as making something which may interact with other senses.  I think the medium is often thought of as an end to itself rather than a means to an end.
