This is where all my aluminum for my furniture gets anodized and colored.  It is an corrosive process magically transforming the very soft surface of the metal to aluminum oxide, a substance so hard that it is used as a grit for sandpaper.  It is very late in the day and the activity has mellowed somewhat.
