I have worked in retail for quite a long time and thought that we took some reasonably good precautions against theft in out stores. I don't think that the technology of panning cameras with a control panel at the front of the store existed at that time. I wonder if the customer profiles which commanded attention are the same. This has caused me quite some guilt since these are generally based on stereotypes which inherently are unfair.
My attire probably attracted the camera today.
