I attached a block on to the bottom of the base of the router to use the gunnel as a guide to make these recessed deck fittings grooved into the shear clamp.   A rotary shaft tool cut the seat for the bronze crossbar.  Finally, it was epoxied in and eventually glassed over the seating.
